Lhyfe, a French producer and supplier of green and renewable hydrogen for industry and mobility, has recently partnered with Atmen, an integrated compliance automation platform, to increase carbon footprint traceability and transparency within the hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) sectors.

The French company had been eagerly awaiting the approval by the European Commission of the first “RFNBO” (Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin) certification schemes for renewable hydrogen. Basically, the RFNBO certification confirms that hydrogen is produced sustainably (via water electrolysis) and from 100% renewable electricity.

Lhyfe is producing green hydrogen in France

Thanks to its partnership with Atmen, Lhyfe now has a robust traceability system with unprecedented precision and granularity. Each delivery of Lhyfe’s green hydrogen can now be accompanied by a Digital Product Passport, an innovation that provides a complete and precise description of the carbon footprint of the hydrogen produced, including detailed information, such as energy sourcing, embedded emissions, and supply chain contribution.

This collaboration starts with the production unit in Bouin (Vendée, France) and will be extended to other Lhyfe sites. “Our collaboration with Atmen is a major step in realising our commitment to transparency for our clients, both in terms of sustainability and traceability. With Digital Product Passports, we are enhancing trust in the sustainability of our hydrogen. We invite the sector to align with this practice, which will help develop the industry with the same spirit of trust”, commented Antoine Hamon, Chief Operations Officer at Lhyfe.
