Sustainable Truck of the Year

The chat was about the challenging energy transition scenario involving heavy-duty vehicles in Europe, but also about electrification, charging hubs and the incoming policy trends involving the future of transportation in Europe.

The only European awards addressed to sustainable commercial vehicles are divided into three categories: Tractor with GVW up to 44 ton, Distribution with GVW up to 26 ton and Van with GVW up to 3,5 ton.

The awards went to MAN TGX 18.520 in the Tractor category; DAF XD Electric in the Distribution category and to IVECO eDaily in the Van category. The awarding ceremony also hosted an interview with Felipe Rodriguez, Director of the ICCT Heavy-duty Vehicle Program and Deputy Manager of ICCT Europe.

The awards went to DAF XG Plus 480 in the Tractor category; Mercedes-Benz eActros in the Distribution category and to Ford E-Transit in the Van category. This year, for the second time in a row, two out of three vehicles awarded are full electric.

The seventh edition of the international award does not change its formula: three categories will be awarded again this year. The Van category for vehicles with up to 3.5 tons payload; Distribution for 2-axle or 3-axle vehicles up to 26 tons of GVW; finally, Tractor for 'heavy' road vehicles up to 4...

«We are committed to the climate targets set out in the Paris Agreement and will do our part by developing low-emission vehicles. Our declared goal is to have no more CO2-emitting commercial vehicles on the roads by 2050. Looking for 2030, we are on track to achieve our goals», he told us.
