According to the manufacturer, the FCEV trucks are expected to put in over 100,000 miles per year, to support the round-the-clock operations. The vehicles will be fueled at the previously announced hydrogen station in Ontario, California.

GP JOULE will make the 100 Nikola trucks available to its customers in transport and logistics. The order is subject to GP JOULE’s successful application for KsNI funding, Germany’s program to support the acquisition of vehicles with alternative, climate-friendly drives.

The fuel cell electric truck is scheduled to be launched in India in 2023. The hydrogen powered vehicle will weigh 55 tons, have three hydrogen tanks, a 200-km working range, and powered by Ballard’s 120 kW PEM fuel cell technology.

While Chevron plans to market its share of the hydrogen in Bay Area and Northern California fueling stations, Hyzon plans to provide refueling for hydrogen fuel cell trucks at a hydrogen hub in Richmond.

The hydrogen was produced from the first set of electrolyser stacks as part of the planned start-up and testing of production equipment at the 20 MW HySynergy facility. The small amount of hydrogen produced was safely vented into the atmosphere with no environmental impact.

According to the agreement, Plug Power will purchase up to 75 Nikola Tre FCEVs over the next three years, with the first trucks being delivered in 2023. Plug Power has been selected to provide its fully integrated liquefaction system for the recently announced Nikola hydrogen hub project.

The first vehicle to be used for commercial operations in the Middle East is a 4x2 XCIENT Fuel Cell truck delivered to Colmobil, equipped with a 180-kW hydrogen fuel cell system that can travel over 400 km on a single charge.
