A key supplier of axles, independent suspension and gearboxes for electric vehicles located in Montichiari, near Brescia (Italy), BRIST boasts quite a full portfolio of solutions addressed to the medium-duty commercial vehicle segment, e.g. vehicles with gross vehicle weight up to 14 tons. These solutions extend the company’s portfolio in the LCV segment (here’s our dedicated post).

BRIST for medium-duty vehicles: 2-speed transmission

BRIST has developed its 2-speed transmission, addressed to medium-sized e-vans, e-trucks, interurban e-buses and midi e-coaches. The transmission is aimed at increasing battery life, as well as optimizing vehicle performances, above all when harsh and challenging missions are required (let’s think of delivery trucks or light commercial vehicles).

Among the highlights of BRIST’s 2-speed transmission are the shift-on-fly mechanism through synchronizer, while the system allows for 12,000 max rpm, 460 Nm peak input torque and 400 kW peak e-motor power. As for e-motors, the transmission can be easily coupled with several models available on the market. According to e-motor specifications and mission requirements, different ratios are available on 2-speed transmission.

A full range of axle models with max axle load up to 8 tons

Along with the above mentioned transmission, BRIST provides a full range of axle models for medium-duty commercial vehicles. The models with independent driven suspension, namely ICEN 45, are available in both 17.5-inch and 19.5-inch size, according to the application. Equipped with double wishbone suspension, the axles reach steering angle up to 50° and allow for maxiumum axle load up to 4.5 tons. Integrated layout with 2-speed transmission is available in order to increase efficiency.

Similarly, BRIST axle range with rigid driven suspension (RCEN 45) are available in both 17.5-inch and 19.5-inch size, according to the application. Also, integrated layout with 2-speed transmission is available in order to increase efficiency. In this case, the axle allows for maximum axle load up to 8 tons.

BRIST will exhibit at ACT Expo, starting on May 20 in Las Vegas. Find out more about BRIST solutions for e-mobility here.
